Why Stretching is Important for Muscle Growth
If you ever think of gaining muscle, stretching is something that you may have not thought of. Stretching in fact plays a vital role in muscle building.
Each muscle in our body is actually enclosed with tough connective tissues that are known as fascia. Fascia is an essential thing in holding our muscles in place in our body.
However, there’s a good chance that our fascia is holding back the growth of our muscles. Simply think that you are training your muscle and feeds it and in return our muscles wish to grow, but something is holding it back. They end up not having room to grow.
The fact that fascia is tough, it will not allow the muscle to be able to expand. Think of the case where you stuff a big pillow to a small case. So, the muscle in this case will not change even if you are training hard or take care of your muscle because its connective tissue of the muscle does not permit the muscle to grow.
The lower leg have riddled fascia because it has big duties of bearing the weight of our body. Also, it’s because of fascia where many trainers have difficulties to develop their calves.
The fact is, it is through stretching where you could find a solution for this. Take note about the example of the pillow case and imagine where you could expand the pillow case through stretching this. This actually gives the pillow inside more room to expand and to also fill in the new space. Through stretching your muscles on certain conditions, you will be able to stretch your fascia and it gives your muscles a lot more room to grow.
The pump is considered to be an effective fascial stretching. The best time for you to stretch in expanding the bags which hold the muscles in place would be when your muscles will be pumped full of blood.
When muscles are fully pumped, this will press against the fascia. If you are going to stretch hard during those times, you will help to increase the pressure on the fascia that later on would lead to the expansion of fascia.
Fascia stretching is considered to be more rigorous than regular stretching and its results are definitely amazing. If you are going to stretch hard to make the fascia expand more, you will definitely feel it. When you are stretching your fascia, you are going to feel a powerful pulling sensation as well as pressure the fact that the muscle works against the fascia to expand this.
It is however very important to always take note to not overstretch your muscles because it could lead to injuries or tear it.
