For many years in the building industry, epoxy formulations have been a very important part in projects and applications. And since we usually use this material in floor applications, it is important then that we know some matters about epoxy floor coatings.
The key behind high performing epoxy coatings are the epoxy resins which form as the core materials in formulating quality epoxy based primers, top coats and sealants. The epoxy floor coatings will perform well on floor finishes, as protective coats, as fire retardants, as a waterproofing coat, and contribute to damage resistance paints, all because of these resins.

Manufacturing plants, warehouse floors, heavy machinery garages, and airplane hangars are often exposed to damage inducing factors, and this is why epoxy floor coatings are applied to these floors because of the material’s resistance to these damages.
Be informed that epoxy coatings have adhesive properties that is so impressive with the adhesive power of 1.5 thousand pounds per square inch of flooring, thus equating the floors to remain compact and in good condition for long periods of time even if there is physical loads of high intensity on the flooring.
With the pigments in epoxy floor coatings that will expand quickly with intense heat exposure, this coating then is a good fire retardant. As the pigments expand, it serves as a barrier protection that lasts long enough until the fire is put off.
The fact that epoxy floor coatings can be water borne, high solids or solvent borne, makes it effective in many surfaces.
